New "Learn to Love Lacrosse" Development Program
For the second time this spring, Wayland Youth Lacrosse will be offering a sticks-only, low-cost, development lacrosse program for both boys and girls called "Learn to Love Lacrosse!". The program will offer an opportunity to learn the basics of lacrosse and play the game in a supportive and fun environment.
"Learn to Love Lacrosse" is offered to all Kindergarten boys and girls. It is also available to interested First Graders who have not played lacrosse before and may not be ready for the full town program offered to First and Second Graders. It will be coached by WYL coaches and Wayland High School lacrosse players.
Weekly practices will be held for one hour on Saturday afternoons at the Wayland Middle School during the spring season from April through June. Sessions will be held on small fields, there will be no contact, and we will be using softer lacrosse balls and tennis balls for instructional purposes.
More information will be coming soon but please spread the word!
Coaching and Volunteering
We are always looking for parents to help with the program – particularly with the younger grades. If you have played lacrosse in High School and/or College and would be interested in coaching, please reach out and let us know. We also need team managers and volunteers to help with various WYL related activities throughout the season.
Finally, it is never too late for your daughter, son or one of their friends to start playing. Each year we continue to get new players, even in Grades 7 and 8. Please encourage your kid’s friends to come out and play. We have passionate coaches who are deeply interested in teaching both the on field skills and the off field character lessons that are important to shape these young men and women.
If you have any questions, please reach out to the commissioners.
